SpeakLearn ("we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered language learning application developed by Guven Pekdemir. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the SpeakLearn mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

Account information: email address, display name, and profile details you enter during registration.
Learning data: your language level, quiz answers, exercise results, and AI chat messages used to personalise your learning experience.
Voice recordings: audio captured when you use the speaking exercises. Audio is sent to our speech-recognition service (Groq Whisper API) for transcription and is not stored on our servers.
Purchase information: subscription purchase tokens provided by Google Play, used solely to verify your subscription status.

Information collected automatically

Usage statistics (exercises completed, study time, streak data) stored to power your progress dashboard.
Device type and OS version for compatibility purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the language learning experience.
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To verify in-app purchase subscriptions via Google Play.
To send optional study reminders (only if you enable notifications).
To generate AI conversation responses tailored to your level.

3. Microphone Access

SpeakLearn requests microphone access solely for speaking exercises and AI voice conversation features. We do not record audio in the background. Audio is processed in real time and sent to Groq's Whisper API for transcription; we do not retain raw audio files.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encrypted storage and row-level security. We use HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit. We never sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

SpeakLearn is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
